This friendly young lady has a history that stretches over many years, many surgeries and many surgeons. Almost everything had been tried when she came to us for treatment. Other surgeons have advised an amputation.
We offered a closed distraction treatment using a circular external fixator.

A TL-Hex device was fitted to the patient’s tibia and a computer software programme was used to calculate accurate strut adjustments. These were done over time, resulting in slight distraction as well as optimisation of the position of the tibia.
Predictably, the non-union went on to heal in less than 6 months.

For the first time in many years our patient literally had a leg to stand on and could continue living her life fully.
Even old fractures can heal.
