Non-Union Treatment By Internal Fixation

Rs=w 1280 11

This young boy presented with an established non-union through the left proximal femur. It was deformed and painful and had occurred through an area of abnormal bone.

An assessment was done and the main purpose of surgery was to optimise the alignment of the femur (in other words correcting the deformity) and to then stabilise it adequately with internal fixation so that it could heal.

The bone was straightened out and fixed with a specialised plate and screws and went on to unite.

Our patient was able to return to the activties he enjoys like soccer and playing with his friends.

Sometimes the simples solutions are the best ones…
